Decision making is not my thing.  Since the passing of Patsy and subsequent pondering of how long I should wait before replacing her (though she could never be replaced, natch), I’ve also grappled with the newly discovered fact that I’m allergic to cats and feathers – gasp. Do I care if I sneeze and weep?  Is the adorable bewitching beauty and cuteness worth it?  I even banned myself from googling pictures of cats to help with the prospect of catlessness.

Then came January and, needing a bit of a lift, I started spending lunchbreaks in pet stores peering through cages like some pervert at a strip joint.  Like any addiction, it was back in a heartbeat.  I give in!

Then today on this horrid cyclone-influenced humid day, I wandered in just for a little taste and who was there but the ginge I’ve been waiting for!!  Alas, freshly vaccinated I could neither play with him or take him home.  So I put my name in the book as his number 1 and took a few happy snaps to keep me going til next week…

But then a strange thing happened – what’s that bit of fluff I see behind ginge?

Ooooooh…

She sees me…

But then looks a little like she just saw Bob

Which should it be?  Which should it be???!!! The cutest ever GT stripe or the ginge?  Heeeeeelllllpppp!

You can’t choose between children. Get both of course!

Patsyfox 02.05.11 at 8:48 am

I love your thinking!! Did you notice how well they co-oridinate? A dash of ginger in the stripey? Not that you collect pets based on colour co-ordination, of course…Well…

haha I am allergic to cats also.. every day is a sneezy hell! BUt i owuldn;t be without them.
Cats thrive with a partner. And if they already get alone, you can’t go wrong!
I would without a doubt get at least both, they need companionship too! 🙂

Patsyfox 02.05.11 at 9:56 am

Oh god, the evidence builds!

Tortoiseshells are renowned for being a bit grumpy, Gingies for being reckless and feisty. What’s your mood?

Patsyfox 02.05.11 at 3:38 pm

Waaaaaa??? According to my “Hollywood Cats” book, gingers are the easiest to work with (Breakfast At Tiffany’s, Alien, etc!). Patsy was an adorable grumpy shit-head – I want a mooshy cat this time! Argh, this gets harder. Meanwhile I have put my name on both…..

Esz 02.05.11 at 9:13 pm

Umm – both??

Kitties will always love a playmate.
And yes, they match so well. It will be fun to compare their opposite personalities and quirks and see how they each become different cats.

I know I wouldn’t be able to leave one of those kitties alone.

danielle 02.05.11 at 10:26 pm

get them both. you know you want to

jaclyn 02.06.11 at 9:33 am

both!

kim 02.06.11 at 11:25 am

Ok, my suggestion – get both – 2 are just as easy as one. Firstly are they related? My two kitties are sisters and get along famously (most of the time give or take the occasional bitch fight) – pros for two:
1. They keep each other company when you are out frolicking
2. They snuggle up to each other like ying and yang
3. Double the warmth on your lap when lounging if they are heat seeking missiles
4. If one goes missing for a few hours you have the other one to cuddle
5. One needs the other to lick the hard to reach places like the back of there head etc…..

cons –
1. Double the vet bills and that’s about it

You go girl and get you some kitty……………..

Patsyfox 02.06.11 at 11:51 am

Ah yes, so many good points! Goddamn the thought of two is very very cute… I had also thought about the double vet bills as the only downside. Will ask if they’re related – I presume so because the stripey has bits of the same shade of ginger in this mix – is this evidence??
I’m allowed to go play with them tomorrow or Tuesday and feel the bond……… Just a little excited about this.

Patsyfox 02.06.11 at 11:53 am

I agree! I’m officially damned now to indecision hell if I leave one behind. Sigh

Patsyfox 02.06.11 at 11:53 am

It’s true, I do!

Fourth Daughter 02.06.11 at 9:10 pm

Don’t you love it how you can have hardly any comments on your blog and as soon as you mention cats, all the feline fans come out in full force? (Not saying you never get comments, just speaking from personal experience when I got heaps of sympathy for my poor sick Suki!)
Definitely agree you should get both. Maybe check out pet insurance and see if you can get a “two for one deal” or something?
Only wish I could remember where I put my book “5001 names for cats” as it had a handy section which gave names for multiples of cats, eg Bonnie and Clyde for these two. You know that’s going to be the next big decision, seeing as you’ve already decided to get them both, haven’t you?

Fourth Daughter 02.06.11 at 9:13 pm

… dare I suggest, seeing as you’re already in love with these two, that you check out http://www.moggies.com.au or your local pet shelter also?

Patsyfox 02.06.11 at 9:25 pm

Funny you should say that – a friend was just telling me this afternoon that I should look at cat shelters to adopt (insert guilty expression for wanting a kitten). So I looked at a couple just before and it broke my heart!! Now I’m really confused because all those gorgeous cats with no home!! Aaaarrrrggghhh. And of course it’s a whole lot cheaper…
And yes – how the feline fans appear! That’s because we’re all so nice, us feline types ; )

Steve 02.06.11 at 9:39 pm

… ginger for sure, as I can thoroughly vouch for the good-moodedness and polite behavior of our ginger man.
But… that said, we do sometimes regret not getting two at the same time as he does seem to wander around looking a little lost when none of the other neighbourhood cats are visiting.
Get them both, life is too short …whats the saying? It’s better to regret something you did, than something you didn’t do!

Patsyfox 02.06.11 at 10:32 pm

Oooh I love that saying, I’d forgotten about it. Well tomorrow lunch time I’ll be giving them a squeeze & hug so if they don’t claw me back I would think they’ll be in the bag!

CRAIG FREAKEN WEBB AH HA 02.07.11 at 3:51 pm

BOTH without question or hesitation. It has to be. It MUST be.

sam 02.08.11 at 2:19 pm

So my time with you is going to be divided between two cats/kittens etc

pfft outrageous

Michelle 02.10.11 at 3:52 pm

Totes the stripes! so amazingly cool.

Patsyfox 02.10.11 at 4:01 pm

Oh god this gets more and more confusing! They don’t release them until the 18th anyway so I have many days to still agonise over which/both/etc……

danielle 02.10.11 at 10:21 pm

stop agonising… just give in and accept your fate.

Patsyfox 02.10.11 at 10:29 pm

; )

Jac 02.13.11 at 6:23 pm

Well, DID YOU GET THEM?!

Patsyfox 02.13.11 at 6:30 pm

Ha ha, well they still have my name on them, but the shop won’t release them until the 18th : / Even though they’re 10 weeks old, which is just uncivilized. So I go and visit them at lunchtimes : )
Hey I’ll be seeing you around the corridors again this year, as I’m baaaak, same subject and day – yay!

Jac 02.17.11 at 3:15 am

Oh good, so Thursday is still Angie Day. Oh, except you won’t be teaching me!!! That sucks. But I’ll still see you, course.

Patsyfox 02.18.11 at 3:17 pm

Well you know, you can always sit in on the old stuff for the fun of it. Yeh right!
We’ll always have the corridors Jack…. : )

Lily 02.19.11 at 8:47 pm

Please don’t keep us in suspense any longer. The 18th has come and gone and still no news of the furry creatures. What was the outcome?
