If I can make it there

by Patsyfox on June 19, 2012

Yes I can make it there, and here I am, in the fabulous and so-far-temperate New York City.

Call me crazy, but it seemed like a great idea to end a year of triple-shift designer-job/illustrator-job/teacher-job with a wee trip abroad to meet one of my illustration heroes, join a couple of New York fashion drawing groups, check out some incredible exhibitions, hang with Jaclyn and generally chill.

Admittedly so far I haven’t seen far past the cafes of the Lower East Side, but it was a good start at Cafe Gitane, far better than today’s brunch at Moby’s Teany Cafe, where I made the mistake of forgetting that he’s a dedicated vegan, and everything on the menu is vegetarian, though the names on the menu suggest otherwise.  My ‘turkey wrap’ turned out to be made from something tasting more like turkey droppings – truly the worst thing I’ve eaten since the meal on the Qantas flight over.  How can honey chicken smell like formaldehyde??

None of it matters – tomorrow I meet New York’s best illustrator – stay tuned

Enjoy! Sounds like you’ve been super busy. If only I’d seen that United Bamboo cat calendar casting post earlier, I’d be in NY too (because of course my cat would have won the “geriatric model” cat-egory!)

Thanks! And yes you’d….? You’d be here accepting the winner’s trophy, of course!! Geez, if only I’d thought of bringing Frankie I could have forced them at gunpoint to include her. Dash and damn.
