Madame lashes

by Patsyfox on August 22, 2012

While rummaging through the mess that is my make-up draw a couple of months back, I re-discovered an old Chanel liquid eyeliner.  My what a lovely brush!  Perfect flexibility, easy to control.  And what a fabulous brown colour!  Not too hard and dark, so warm. “I must pick myself up a new one when I hit the northern hemisphere in a couple of weeks…”

I daresay you know what road to hell I’d just headed out on because we all know that when you find a brilliant product and try to buy another it will always be discontinued. Why Jesus, WHY MUST YOU SPITE ME???!

So between New York, London and Paris I managed to pick myself up no less than 5 new and different lookalike liquid eyeliners, which of course look and behave nothing like the original Chanel – Sigh – And apparently require a Masters in Liquid eyeliner technique to use.  Now, I believe the only way to feel better about stupid and expensive purchases is to use them as much as possible, so adopting my mantra to students – practice will eventually make perfect – I’ve set about applying the various eyeliners everyday, for any purpose.  Running?  No problem, it’s waterproof once dry.  Yoga?  A little inappropriate but who cares!  Is my technique getting better?  NO!  And thank you to the students who let me take an entire class and catch the train home with the “smudge-proof” eyeliner line mirrored on my upper lid area, causing me to look like some demented clown.

But I am nothing if not persistent, so look out for me on a tram train or footpath near you – woman with unneccessarily thick and assymetrical liquid eyeliner, applied imperfectly…

Oh and I’ve picked up my abandoned drawing-a-day-in-the-diary practice from 2 years ago…

Love it! Always entertaining….
What are you using for drawing in your diary? also what did you use on your travels..I have just booked a summer escape to Hawaii and plan on sitting by the pool with drink in hand and drawing book!

I used just black W&N ink in the diary, not great as the paper is so fine, but ok if you don’t wet it too much. I traveled with this and a couple of graphite pencils – simple! No need to overcomplicate, I say.
Ooooh, I’m very jelly about your holiday! How fantastic, expect to see drawings of grass skirts… ; )

Thanks, what type of fineliners did you use o/s? I can image I will make a mess with the ink, espcially after a few too many poolside mai tais…
I hope to do some drawings, grass skirts, the banyan tree by the pool and hibiscus flowers…

Can’t wait for classes next semester xx

Yes true, the ink can be messy when you’re juggling a cocktail! I used a few different fineliners some of which were Jaclyn’s. It doesn’t matter too much, you just need good tips before they get old and tatty. The Artlind “drawing system” ones have a good range of sizes.
See you soon with a tan no doubt!

I almost laughed myself off my chair. Never, ever trust the false smudge-proof claims on the pretty packages. All lies.

P.S. You could never look like a demented clown because you are far too pretty.

Ha, it’s not a good look! And you are very kind dear Lily… x
